Quran Universe is a free website for reading the Quran and understanding it. It is built for two kinds of readers: Muslims who recite the Quran and want to know what the words mean for their lives, and people of any background who are exploring Islam and want to read its scripture for themselves.

What you will find here

Every one of the Quran's 114 surahs and 6,236 verses has its own page. On each verse page you get:

  • The Arabic text of the verse
  • The Sahih International English translation
  • A transliteration so you can read the Arabic aloud
  • A word-by-word breakdown of the Arabic
  • A short card that explains the setting of the verse, where its message shows up in everyday life, and one small thing to try
  • The full Tafsir Ibn Kathir commentary for readers who want classical scholarship

The Learn section adds plain-English guides on common questions, such as what the Quran is, how to start reading it and what Islam teaches.

Why we built it

Many people own a copy of the Quran, or hear it every day, without feeling that they understand it. Translations alone can feel distant, and full commentaries can feel overwhelming. Quran Universe sits in between: the original text and a trusted translation, a simple explanation you can read in a minute, and the classical tafsir one tap away when you want to go deeper.

How the cards are written

The verse cards are simplified reflections, not scholarly rulings. They are written to stay faithful to the plain meaning of the verse and to mainstream classical commentary, especially Tafsir Ibn Kathir, which is shown on every verse page so you can always check the card against the source. Cards move through draft, review and approved stages, and we correct them when readers point out mistakes.

The cards do not issue religious rulings (fatwas). For questions of Islamic law or personal religious guidance, please consult a qualified scholar. See our disclaimer for more.
