Using the site

Quran Universe is free to read. You may use it for personal study, teaching, sharing with friends and family, and other non-commercial purposes.

When you use the site, you agree not to:

  • Copy, scrape or download the site's content in bulk, or republish it as your own product or service, without our written permission
  • Interfere with the site's operation, security or other users, for example by overloading it with automated requests or trying to gain unauthorised access
  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that misrepresents or mocks the Quran or the content of the site
  • Remove or alter any copyright or attribution notices

Linking to any page on the site is welcome, and quoting short passages with a link back to the page is fine.

The Quran and third-party texts

The Arabic text of the Quran is not owned by anyone. The English translation (Sahih International), the transliteration, the Tafsir Ibn Kathir commentary, the word-by-word glosses and the surah introductions are the work of their respective translators, editors and publishers, and all rights in them remain with their owners. They are shown on the site for study and reference.

Our content

The verse cards, the guides in the Learn section, the site design, the logo and the code of the site are owned by Quran Universe and protected by copyright and other laws. Apart from the uses allowed above, you may not reproduce, modify or distribute them without our written permission.

Religious content

The verse cards and guides are simplified explanations written for understanding and reflection. They are not religious rulings (fatwas) and are not a substitute for qualified scholarship. Please read our disclaimer for details.

Accuracy and availability

We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that the site will always be error-free, uninterrupted or secure, and we may change, suspend or remove any part of it at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Quran Universe and the people behind it are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

The site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content, availability or practices, and a link does not mean we endorse them.

Privacy

Our privacy policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. It forms part of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the operator of Quran Universe is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country of residence gives you protections that cannot be waived.
