Who forbade the good things Allah made for you?

Beauty and good food are His gifts

Who they are for
adornmentproduced for His servants
good provisionlawful and pure
for
believershere shared, there only theirs
Who decides what is forbidden
my own opinionit feels too worldly
what Allah legislatednot made-up limits

The idolaters had banned certain foods and clothes from their own opinions, with no basis from Allah. The verse asks who gave them that right. The tafsir says these gifts are for believers in this life, and only theirs in the next.

Someone in your circle says wearing nice things or enjoying a good meal is not for real believers. You start feeling guilty over a new coat. Allah made beautiful things for His servants. Guilt was not part of the gift.

Enjoying nice things must make me less religious.

Good things are Allah's gifts to His servants, meant to be enjoyed with thanks.

Enjoy one good thing today fully, and say alhamdulillah out loud for it.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir

Say: "Who has forbidden the adornment with clothes given by Allah, which He has produced for His servants, and At-Tayyibat (good things) of sustenance?" Say: "They are, in the life of this world, for those who believe, (and) exclusively for them (believers) on the Day of Resurrection." Thus We explain the Ayat in detail for people who have knowledge (32)

Allah refutes those who prohibit any type of food, drink or clothes according to their own understanding, without relying on what Allah has legislated.

قُلْ

(Say) O Muhammad, to the idolators who prohibit some things out of false opinion and fabrication,

مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَ لِعِبَادِهِ

(Who has forbidden the adornment with clothes given by Allah, which He has produced for His servants) meaning, these things were created for those who believe in Allah and worship Him in this life, even though the disbelievers share in these bounties in this life. In the Hereafter, the believers will have all this to themselves and none of the disbelievers will have a share in it, for Paradise is prohibited for the disbelievers.
