No regard for kinship, no regard for a pledge.
The ones who overstep every bond
The previous verse said they would not honor ties if they gained power over the Muslims. This verse widens it: toward any believer at all, they respected neither kinship nor covenant. It is they, the verse says, who were the aggressors.
When you are angry with a cousin or a former friend, it is tempting to forget everything you owe them. The shared childhood, the favor they did, the promise you made. Hold on to the ties even when you are hurt. That is the opposite of what this verse describes.
Once someone wrongs me, I owe them nothing anymore.
Family ties and promises still count, even when I am angry.
