Even the reprieve has a fixed end date.

The Day of the time well-known

The limit
the reprievefor Iblis
ends on
the appointed Dayknown to Allah
How long evil runs
foreverit will never stop
until a set timethen it ends

Iblis asked until the resurrection. Allah answers until the Day of the time well-known. The date is set by Allah, not by Iblis. For a Prophet ﷺ tired of mockery in Makkah, this said: the opposition has an end.

You keep slipping on the same thing, over and over. Or someone keeps hurting you and it feels endless. Every whisper and every harm runs on a clock Allah set. It does not get the last word.

This struggle will never end.

Even Iblis has a deadline; the pull toward wrong runs out on a day Allah has fixed.

When the familiar urge comes today, remind yourself: this has an end, and say a'udhu billah.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir (shared passage from 15:34)

(Allah) said: "Then leave, for verily, you are an outcast. (34)"And verily, the curse shall be upon you until the Day of Recompense. (35)[Iblis] said: "O my Lord! Then give me respite until the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected. (36)Allah said: "Then verily, you are of those reprieved, (37)"Until the Day of the time appointed. (38)

The Expulsion of Iblis from Jannah, and His Reprieve until the Day of Resurrection

Allah tells us how He issued an unconditional command to Iblis to leave the position he held among the highest of heights. He told him that he was an outcast, i.e., cursed, and that he would be followed by a curse that would hound him until the Day of Resurrection. It was reported that Sa'id bin Jubayr said: "When Allah cursed Iblis, his image into something different from that of the angels, and he made a sound like a bell. Every bell that rings on this earth until the Day of Resurrection is part of that. This was reported by Ibn Abi Hatim.
