The same question again: where are they now?

Asked before every witness on the Day

A second call
Allah callsbefore all witnesses
asks
where are they?partners you asserted
Why ask twice
already answeredno need to repeat
a reminder nowwhile answers can change

Ibn Kathir calls this another call by way of rebuke for those who worshipped others besides Allah, made before all the witnesses. The question from verse 62 returns, right after the verses about night and day: who else gave you those?

You just read that Allah alone brings morning and night. Now the question returns. Hearing it twice is a gift: a second chance to check what you lean on, today, before it is asked for real.

I already heard this warning, so it is not for me.

Allah repeats the question so I keep checking whom I truly rely on.

Try this

Before bed, ask yourself honestly: what did I rely on most today, other than Allah?

Tafsir Ibn Kathir

And the Day when He will call to them, and will say: "Where are My (so-called) partners, whom you used to assert? (74)And We shall take out from every nation a witness, and We shall say: "Bring your proof." Then they shall know that the truth is with Allah, and the lies which they invented will disappear from them (75)

Rebuking the Idolators

This is another call by way of rebuke for those who worshipped other gods besides Allah. The Lord, may He be exalted, will call to them before all the witnesses, and will say:

 أَيْنَ شُرَكَائِيَ الَّذِينَ كُنْتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ

(Where are My (so-called) partners, whom you used to assert?) meaning, in this world.

(And We shall take out from every nation a witness,) Mujahid said, "This means a Messenger."

(and We shall say: "Bring your proof.") meaning, 'of the truth of your claim that Allah had any partners.'

(Then they shall know that the truth is with Allah,) meaning, that there is no god besides Him. Then they will not speak and they will not be able to find any answer.

(and the lies which they invented will disappear from them.) they will vanish and will be of no benefit to them.
