Hud · 11:121Makkah

Keep to your way. We are working on ours.

The Prophet ﷺ echoes the prophets before him

Two paths
those who denyact on your way
the believerswe act on ours
and then
the outcomewill show who succeeds
What the believer does
keep arguinguntil they give in
keep workingon our path

Allah tells the Prophet ﷺ to say to the deniers what Shu'ayb said earlier: act according to your way, we are acting on ours. Ibn Kathir calls it a warning, and notes that Allah fulfilled His promise and helped His Messenger ﷺ.

Your relatives tease you every Eid about how "strict" you have become. You have explained, more than once. Now you just keep going. Your consistency is your answer.

I have to convince everyone before I can be at peace with my choices.

Once I have spoken clearly, I can simply keep working on my path and let time show.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir

And say to those who do not believe: "Act according to your ability and way, We are acting (121)And you wait! We (too) are waiting. (122)

Allah, the Exalted, commands His Messenger ﷺ to say to those who disbelieve in what he has come with from his lord,by way of warning,

اعْمَلُوا عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ

(Act according to your ability) This means upon your path and your way.

إِنَّا عَامِلُونَ

(We are acting (in our way). This means that we are upon our path and our way (Islam).

وَانتَظِرُوا إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ

(And you wait ! We (too) are waiting.) This means,

فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَن تَكُونُ لَهُ عَاقِبَةُ الدَّارِ ۗ إِنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ

(And you will come to know for which of us will be the (happy) end in the Hereafter. Certainly the wrongdoers will not be successful.)[6:135] Verily, Allah fulfilled His promise to His Messenger ﷺ, helped him and aided him. He made His Word uppermost (victorious), and the word of those who disbelieved lowly and disgraced. Allah is truly the Most Mighty, Most Wise.
