Ridwan, Keeper of Paradise
The unseenKeeper of Paradise
Ridwanرضوان
The name tradition gives to the keeper of Paradise, whose angels greet the believers with peace.
When the believers are led to Paradise in groups, its keepers open the gates and say: Peace be upon you, you have done well, enter to stay forever. Angels come in to them from every gate. Later tradition names the chief keeper Ridwan, a word that also means Allah's good pleasure.
What does the Quran say?
But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, "Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally therein," [they will enter].
Quran 39:73
The lesson
The last greeting a believer hears at the gate is peace.
