The Eavesdropping Devils, Thieves of the heavens
The unseenThieves of the heavens
The Eavesdropping Devilsالشياطين المسترقة
Approximate date
Rebellious jinn who once crept up to steal news from the heavens, now chased off by shooting flames.
The jinn used to sit in places in the sky to overhear the angels and pass scraps to soothsayers. When the Prophet ﷺ was sent, they found the heaven filled with strong guards and burning flames. Anyone who listens now finds a flame lying in wait. This is why the soothsayers' news dried up.
What does the Quran say?
And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.
Quran 72:9
