Ibn Sayyad, The puzzling boy of Madinah
In the hadithThe puzzling boy of Madinah
Ibn Sayyadابن صياد
Madinah
A boy in Madinah with strange claims, whom some Companions thought was the Dajjal.
Ibn Sayyad was a youth in Madinah who claimed visions. The Prophet ﷺ tested him, hiding a word in his mind; he could only stammer "al-dukh". Umar asked to kill him, but the Prophet ﷺ said: if he is the one, you will not be given power over him; if not, there is no good in killing him.
The lesson
Even with a suspect, the Prophet ﷺ judged by evidence, not fear.
