Barsisa, The monk who fell
In the hadithThe monk who fell
Barsisaبرصيصا
A devout monk led step by step by Shaytan into murder and disbelief.
A monk known for worship was left to look after a sick woman. Shaytan led him on, one small step at a time, until he sinned with her, killed her to hide it, and finally bowed to Shaytan to escape punishment. Then Shaytan disowned him, as Surah al-Hashr describes.
What does the Quran say?
[The hypocrites are] like the example of Satan when he says to man, "Disbelieve." But when he disbelieves, he says, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I fear Allah, Lord of the worlds."
Quran 59:16
The lesson
