A chain of Christian monks who passed Salman along until the last pointed him to Arabia.
Salman left his Persian home to follow Christianity, serving one monk after another in Syria, Mosul, Nusaybin and Amorium. As each died he named the next. The last told him a prophet would soon appear in a land of palms between two lava fields, who would accept gifts but not charity and bear a seal between his shoulders.
What grew out of it?
Salman found every sign in Madinah and became a great Companion.
