Baghdad

A clever caliph who ruled 45 years and tried to rebuild the caliph's prestige.

He used the futuwwa brotherhoods and Sufi orders to bind princes to him. He clashed with the Khwarazm Shah, who once marched on Baghdad. His reign was the longest of any Abbasid caliph.
