Husayn grew up in the Prophet's ﷺ arms and was called one of the two leaders of the youth of Paradise. After Muawiyah's death he refused to pledge to Yazid and set out for Kufa. At Karbala his small party was surrounded, and on the 10th of Muharram, 61 AH, he and many of his family were killed.
