Daughter of Abu Sufyan who held to Islam in Abyssinia while her father led Makkah against it.
Ramlah, known as Umm Habibah, emigrated to Abyssinia. There her husband left Islam, but she held firm, alone in a foreign land. The Prophet ﷺ proposed to her by letter, and the Najashi conducted the marriage on his behalf. When her father Abu Sufyan, still a pagan, visited Madinah, she folded away the Prophet's ﷺ mat so he could not sit on it.
