Umm Salamahأم سلمة
Approximate dateMadinah
A widow of great wisdom whose advice saved the day at Hudaybiyyah.
Hind, known as Umm Salamah, migrated to Abyssinia and then to Madinah, where she was separated from her husband and child for a year. When Abu Salamah died, she said the prayer the Prophet ﷺ taught for loss, and Allah gave her someone better: the Prophet ﷺ himself. At Hudaybiyyah, when the Companions hesitated, she advised him to shave his head first, and they all followed.
