أبو لؤلؤة
Abu Lu'lu'ah
Relied onA two-bladed dagger
Undone byHis own blade
Fayruz, a Persian slave of al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, stabbed Caliph Umar with a two-bladed dagger as he led the dawn prayer, then struck thirteen others as he fled.
How it ended
Trapped under a cloak, he killed himself. Umar died days later, thanking Allah that his killer was not a Muslim.
But whoever kills a believer intentionally - his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a great punishment.
Quran 4:93
The lessonUmar had asked Allah for martyrdom in the city of the Prophet ﷺ, and was given it.
