Two messengers came to a town, then a third. The people called them a bad omen and threatened to stone them. A man came running from the far end of the town to defend them, and they killed him.

How it ended

One shout struck them and they were extinguished (36:29). The man was told: 'Enter Paradise' (36:26).

It was not but one shout, and immediately they were extinguished.

Named in the QuranMany commentators say the town was Antioch and the man was Habib, but the Quran names neither. Ibn Kathir doubted Antioch, since it was among the first cities to believe in Isa.
