Traditional date, disputedEgypt

The Egyptian official who bought the boy Yusuf and told his wife: make his stay honourable.

He bought Yusuf from travellers for a few coins and hoped to adopt him. When his wife accused Yusuf, a witness showed from the torn shirt that Yusuf was innocent, and the Aziz told her to seek forgiveness. Even so, Yusuf was later put in prison to quiet the talk.

What does the Quran say?

And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife, "Make his residence comfortable. Perhaps he will benefit us, or we will adopt him as a son." And thus, We established Joseph in the land that We might teach him the interpretation of events. And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know.
