Maryam's father, whose family Allah chose above the worlds, and after whom Surah Al Imran is named.

Allah chose Adam, Nuh, the family of Ibrahim and the family of Imran over the worlds. Imran was a righteous man of Bani Israil. Maryam is called 'daughter of Imran' in the Quran, and through her came Isa. The commentators say Imran died before Maryam was born.
