The Son of Luqman, The one advised
In the QuranThe one advised
The Son of Luqmanابن لقمان
Traditional date, disputedNubia
The son to whom Luqman addressed his famous counsel: O my son, do not associate anything with Allah.
Luqman begins each piece of advice with the tender words 'O my dear son'. The son is silent in the Quran, but the whole surah is spoken to him: about Allah's oneness, prayer, patience, humility and a gentle voice. He stands for every child taught by a loving parent.
What does the Quran say?
O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination.
Quran 31:17
