An Ansari who felt he had betrayed a trust and tied himself to a mosque pillar until forgiven.

During the siege of Banu Qurayzah, Abu Lubabah, their old ally, let slip by a gesture what fate awaited them. Regretting it at once, he tied himself to a pillar of the Prophet's mosque and refused to be untied until Allah forgave him. The pillar is still called the Pillar of Repentance.
