Al-Yamamah

A captured chief who was won over by kindness and cut off grain to Quraysh.

Thumamah, chief of Banu Hanifah, was captured and tied to a pillar of the mosque in Madinah. The Prophet ﷺ asked after him for three days and then freed him. Thumamah washed, returned and became Muslim, saying no face had been more hateful to him and now none was dearer. When Musaylimah rose, he stayed loyal.
