Approximate dateMadinah

The Abyssinian woman who cared for the Prophet ﷺ from birth, whom he called his mother after his mother.

Barakah, known as Umm Ayman, was with Aminah when she died and raised the orphaned boy. The Prophet ﷺ freed her, honoured her all his life and married her to Zayd ibn Harithah; their son was Usamah. She emigrated to both Abyssinia and Madinah. After his death, Abu Bakr and Umar visited her, and she wept that revelation had stopped.
