Hind bint Utbahهند بنت عتبة

Traditional date, disputedMakkah

Wife of Abu Sufyan, once a fierce enemy at Uhud, who accepted Islam when Makkah opened.

Hind lost her father, uncle and brother at Badr and urged Quraysh on at Uhud. When Makkah opened in 630 she came to pledge to the Prophet ﷺ with the women and spoke boldly during the pledge. She destroyed her household idol and later sent her sons to the campaigns in Syria. Islam erased what came before.
