A scribe of revelation, so fine a reciter that Allah named him to the Prophet ﷺ.

Ubayy, an Ansari who could read and write, wrote down revelation in Madinah. The Prophet ﷺ told him that Allah had commanded him to recite Surah al-Bayyinah to Ubayy, and Ubayy wept, asking, 'Did He name me?' Umar appointed him to lead the night prayers of Ramadan in congregation.
