Iskandar Muda becomes sultan of Aceh and makes it the strongest power on the Malacca Strait. Pilgrims from across Southeast Asia sail from here to Makkah.
How it touches Islam Aceh asked the Ottomans for help against Portugal and received guns and gunners in the 1560s; it is still called the Porch of Makkah.
