Toledo falls

Alfonso VI of Castile takes Toledo from its quarrelling Muslim king. Its libraries make it Europe's centre for turning Arabic books into Latin.

How it touches Islam The feuding taifa kings lost Toledo, as the Quran warns: do not dispute, or you will lose courage and your strength will depart (8:46).

Alfonso VI

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.

Quran 8:46
