Bukhara

A scholar of Bukhara whose Sahih is held to be the most reliable book after the Quran.

Orphaned young, he began memorising hadith as a boy and travelled from Khurasan to Egypt to hear them. Over about sixteen years he chose some 7,500 narrations, with repeats, from many thousands, and is said to have prayed two rak'ahs before entering each. He died in exile at Khartank near Samarkand.

What grew out of it?
