Approximate dateDelhi

A Delhi Sufi whose open kitchen fed thousands and who kept away from the sultans' courts.

He refused to attend the courts of the Delhi sultans; his lodge is said to have had two doors, and if a king came in by one he would leave by the other. Rich and poor ate together at his kitchen, and the poet Amir Khusrau was his devoted disciple.

What grew out of it?

His shrine in Delhi is still alive with prayer and qawwali every evening.
