A Naqshbandi poet and scholar of Herat, often called the last great classical Persian poet.

At the Timurid court of Herat he wrote seven long poems, the Haft Awrang, retelling stories such as Yusuf and Zulaykha, and Nafahat al-Uns, lives of the saints. He also wrote an Arabic grammar used in madrasas for centuries.
