Ibn Hazmابن حزم

Cordoba

A Cordoban minister turned scholar who wrote on law, religions and love.

After the fall of the Cordoban caliphate he left politics. He championed the Zahiri method, holding to the plain text and rejecting analogy, and wrote a landmark study of other religions. His Ring of the Dove is a gentle classic on love.

What grew out of it?

His study of religions is one of the first works of comparative religion.
