Approximate dateMakkah

A woman from Merv whose copy of Sahih al-Bukhari, taught in Makkah, became a standard text.

She heard the Sahih from al-Kushmihani, a student of al-Bukhari's student al-Firabri. Living in Makkah, she taught it to scholars from across the Muslim world, including al-Khatib al-Baghdadi, and made them check their copies against hers. She never married.

What grew out of it?

Her transmission is one of the main lines through which Sahih al-Bukhari reached later centuries.
