Cave of the Sleepersكهف أصحاب الكهف

The cave where young believers and their dog slept for 309 years.

Young believers fled a ruler who forced idol worship and slept in a cave for 309 years (18:25), their dog stretched at the entrance. The Quran leaves the place unnamed and warns against arguing over details. Christian tradition placed it at Ephesus in Turkey; Muslim traditions also point to a cave near Amman, called al-Raqim, and to Tarsus.
