Gazaغزة
An old trading town where the Prophet's ﷺ great-grandfather Hashim is buried and al-Shafi'i was born.
Quraysh's summer caravans ran to Gaza and Syria (106:2). Hashim ibn Abd Manaf, who began those caravans, died and was buried here; the town is still called Ghazzat Hashim. Imam al-Shafi'i was born in Gaza in 767.
