Mu'tahمؤتة
The village in Jordan where three commanders fell in turn and Khalid became the Sword of Allah.
In 629 a Muslim force of 3,000 met a far larger Byzantine and Arab army here, east of the Dead Sea. Zayd ibn Haritha, Ja'far ibn Abi Talib and Abdullah ibn Rawahah each took the banner and were martyred. Khalid ibn al-Walid led the rest safely home, and the Prophet ﷺ called him one of the swords of Allah.
