Nazareth, Also al-Nasirah, Nazareth
CityAlso al-Nasirah, Nazareth
Nazarethالناصرة
The Galilee town where Isa grew up, and perhaps the root of the Quran's word for Christians.
Maryam lived here and Isa grew up here. The Quran calls Christians 'Nasara' (5:14), which many scholars link to Nazareth (al-Nasirah). Others connect the word to 'ansar', the helpers of Allah, as the disciples called themselves (61:14).
