The valley where a proud Muslim army broke, then rallied around the Prophet ﷺ.
Weeks after the conquest of Makkah in 630, the Hawazin ambushed a Muslim army of about 12,000 in this valley on the road to Ta'if, and many fled. The Prophet ﷺ stood firm calling out, the Companions rallied, and victory came. The Quran warns that their great numbers 'did not avail you at all' (9:25).
