The Nile (al-Yamm)النيل

The river that carried baby Musa in a chest to Firaun's own palace.

Musa's mother was inspired to cast him into 'al-yamm', and the river laid him on the bank of his enemy (20:39). Firaun boasted of 'these rivers flowing beneath me' (43:51). Amr ibn al-As founded Fustat on its bank, and Cairo grew beside it.
