A plain at the edge of the Haram where a truce that looked like a loss became 'a clear victory'.

In 628 Quraysh blocked about 1,400 Muslim pilgrims here. The Companions pledged under a tree to stand firm, and Allah was pleased with them (48:18). The Prophet ﷺ then signed a ten-year truce whose terms seemed harsh, but the Quran called it 'a clear victory' (48:1), and within two years Makkah opened.
