Valley of Elah, Also Elah, Wadi al-Sunt
ValleyAlso Elah, Wadi al-Sunt
Valley of Elahوادي البطم
The valley where tradition sets the duel in which young Dawud killed Jalut.
Talut's small army, tested at a river, faced Jalut's forces. 'How many a small company has overcome a large company by permission of Allah,' said the faithful (2:249). Dawud killed Jalut, and Allah gave him kingship and prophethood (2:251). Biblical tradition places the battle in this valley southwest of Jerusalem.
