The wilderness where Bani Israil wandered forty years, fed with manna and quails.

After Bani Israil refused to enter the Holy Land, they wandered here for forty years (5:26). Allah shaded them with clouds and sent manna and quails (2:57), and Musa struck the rock so twelve springs flowed (2:60). Here, too, many commentators set the golden calf of al-Samiri.
