The Sumerian moon-god city that many historians make Ibrahim's birthplace.
A great city near the Euphrates with a towering ziggurat to the moon god. Jewish and Christian tradition, followed by many Muslim historians, makes it the place where Ibrahim reasoned with his people about the star, the moon and the sun (6:76-79) and broke their idols (21:57-58).
