Thebes (Luxor)الأقصر
Capital of Egypt's New Kingdom, the age most historians link to Musa's Firaun.
Thebes, today's Luxor, held the great temples of Karnak and the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Many historians place the Exodus in the New Kingdom, often under Ramesses II, though no one knows. The Quran keeps the tyrant's name hidden and calls him only Firaun.
