Hawran and Busraحوران

A black-stone plain in southern Syria tied by tradition to Ayyub and by the Sirah to the monk Bahira.

Tradition places the long trial of Ayyub here, at Shaykh Sa'd near Nawa, where a rock and a spring bear his name (38:41-44). Its chief town, Busra, was a Roman caravan city. The young Muhammad ﷺ is said to have met the monk Bahira there on a trade journey with Abu Talib.
