The old Rustamid capital, near the castle where Ibn Khaldun wrote his Muqaddimah.
Tahart was capital of the Rustamid state from 777 to 909. Nearby, at the castle of Qal'at Ibn Salama, Ibn Khaldun withdrew in 1375 and wrote the Muqaddimah, laying foundations for the study of history and society.
