Dumat al-Jandalدومة الجندل

A desert fortress town at the head of Wadi Sirhan, gateway between Arabia and Syria.

An ancient oasis with a stone citadel, a meeting point of Arabia, Iraq and Syria. The Prophet ﷺ sent Khalid ibn al-Walid from Tabuk to its ruler Ukaydir in 630, and the town came to terms. Its old mosque is named after Umar.
