Cave of Thawr, Also Thawr, Ghar Thawr
CaveAlso Thawr, Ghar Thawr
Cave of Thawrغار ثور
The mountain cave where the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr hid at the start of the Hijrah.
A cave on Mount Thawr, south of Makkah, where the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr hid for three nights while Quraysh hunted them. The trackers came right to its mouth. The Quran recalls the Prophet's ﷺ words to his frightened friend: 'Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us' (9:40).
