A cool mountain town that stoned the Prophet ﷺ in 619 and embraced Islam a decade later.

Home of the Thaqif tribe, famous for grapes and the idol al-Lat. In 619 the Prophet ﷺ came seeking help and was driven out with stones; he refused to have them punished, hoping their children would worship Allah. After a siege in 630, Thaqif sent a delegation to Madinah and accepted Islam.
