Jericho (Ariha)أريحا
One of the oldest towns on earth, an oasis by the Jordan just north of the Dead Sea.
Many commentators say Jericho was 'the town' Bani Israil were told to enter humbly, saying 'Hittah', 'relieve us of our burdens' (2:58), and that Yusha' took it after the forty years of wandering. Some of them changed the word they were told to say and were punished (2:59).
